Dear Mr. Khan,

I would like to apologize for arriving late during the business deal meeting we held yesterday.  I was held off by an emergency that took place at our company office and was not able to leave the office earlier.  I attempted to call your office several times while I was on the way to the meeting but all your lines were busy until I arrived.  I have apologized personally but I hope this letter would formalize my apology.

I sincerely hope that what happened will not affect the outcome of our business deal nor would it affect any future deals that our companies may be involved in.  It is always company policy to be on time and deliver the highest level of respect to customers.  Rest assured that the incident will be avoided in our next dealings.
