Request letters can be of different types, they could be as mundane as Change of Address Request letter or as delicate as a Promotion Request Letter.
The important thing to remember while writing a request letter is to keep the tone polite and courteous.
At the outset mention the purpose of your writing the letter. Be clear and concise.
If you are writing a Community Help Request letter it would be good to mention how much voluntary work of any kind is appreciated and encouraged.
It is also polite to express a wish to reciprocate the kindness or favor in some letters where applicable.
It is also a good idea to give a contact number and address for the reader to contact you in case of any clarifications or doubts.
Always remember to thank the person for the time and effort he/she has spared to consider your request.
Do not thank the person in advance for what you have requested of him/her. It can appear very presumptuous in the first place and can put off the reader that you are not giving him/her a choice to say no to your request. It may also seem as if you don’t wish to write to them again once the request is granted. You can always write a thank you letter later.
